A Miracle Just to Get Us There

When we left David on the hop to Panama City to catch the flight to LAX then Manila and on to Bacolod City, Philippines, we had no idea that God was going to perform a miracle just to get us there. Because of bad weather in Panama City we were diverted to Cartagena, Columbia for fuel. By the time we got back in to PTY we had missed our connection and were rescheduled on the next flight five hours later. This meant that we would miss our flight to Manila unless God intervened. We texted friends and team members and asked them to pray then set about looking for options. Our flight would arrive at 11:45pm, twenty minutes before the Manila flight's scheduled departure time. Only if Father delayed the Manila flight would we make it. So...God flooded the Manila airport, closing it and causing a one hour delay in the Philippine Air flight's departure. We made the flight, saving about $1700 in rebooking and hotel costs, but He wasn't finished - He topped it all off by giving us a significant tailwind which caused us to arrive in Manila on-time! In Mark 4:41 the disciples marveled at Jesus..."Who then is this that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

We were the 'eyes' part of a medical mission team from Beltway Park Church in Abilene, Texas. This is the third year that we've been blessed to be part of this great team. We were also blessed to work alongside Bryan Kaiser, the founder and CEO of God's Eyes International. We held clinics in four communities around the southern part of the island of Negros, serving and sharing the love of Christ with over 500 dear souls. We were blessed with wonderful translators - even though english is an official language of the Philippines there are over 170 non-english dialects spoken. They made it look easy!

Finally, Father gave us favor with customs when we returned to Panama with all the left-over supplies. I am constantly reminded of what an amazing God we serve. As Psalms 46:1 tells us, God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Amen.
