Eyes Opened and Lives Changed in Pedregal

We're never sure what to expect when we schedule a second visit to a community to meet the needs of those we were unable to see in a previous outreach. But...God always sizes our teams to meet the needs of the day, and we had a huge team of about 35. We had great expectations.

When we arrived to set up about 7:00am the first day it was unusually quiet, with only a couple of dozen folks waiting, but as the day progressed, a steady stream of dear folks from the community continued to flow until we had, in what seemed like a relaxed day, touched 186 lives. Our second day got off to a much bigger start, with close to 100 waiting by the time we started our day with Jeff Larvick sharing a word of testimony. The crowd didn't slow until mid afternoon, and we ended the day with 212 lives touched by God's love.

Being in a fishing community, almost half of those we served had varying degrees of eye damage caused by exposure to the strong sunlight where they spend their lives, so we dispensed almost 200 pairs of UV protection sunglasses. We also were able to share almost 300 pairs of reading glasses and 200 pairs of custom-built Rx glasses, all at no charge to the community.

More importantly, everyone who visited the outreach had the opportunity to hear the wonderful news that God loves them enough to send His Son Jesus to die for their sins. We saw families reunited, broken bodies and broken hearts healed, and many began a new life in Christ Jesus.

Many thanks to Iglesia LaViña in Pedregal and Iglesia LaViña in Potrerillos for coordinating this outreach and working tirelessly alongside to serve this dear community. Also, thanks to Missionary Assist Panama for providing hundreds of New Testaments for outreach attendees.

We praise God for His goodness to us and look forward to all He has in store for us in 20/20!
